Michael (Mike) Thomas Moreland

It is with deep sorrow that we share that Michael (“Mike”) Thomas Moreland, 47, passed away on September 12, 2026.
Mike was born on August 29, 1979 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Sandra Kay Moreland and Thomas James Moreland.
Mike enjoyed a happy childhood, often playing outside with his neighborhood friends and living, as he called it, “free range.” As a growing boy, he had a particular affinity for Hostess treats and Mountain Dew, which he would burn off easily as a natural athlete (his favorite sport was football). Mike particularly adored his mother, Sandra (“Sandy”), a former trapeze artist and then-schoolteacher. Sandy took great pride in both Mike and his sister, Kristy, and with their mother’s guidance, they both excelled at flying on the trapeze in their younger years.
Although his life was far too short, Mike lived a full and colored life in every way possible, and he often commented that he had lived the life of many men. Nothing could have been more true.
Mike spent most of his young adulthood in Indiana before following his parents out to Nevada in his early thirties. Based out of Las Vegas, he traveled the country working for Feld Entertainment working at various venues from country music concerts to motocross events. Later, Mike spent nearly a decade working as a carpenter in Maine, a skill he learned from his father, Tom, who was a fine carpenter and woodworker himself. In his spare time, Mike loved to go fishing (anywhere, anytime!), listen to country music, spend time in nature, and watch football (he was a big KC Chiefs fan!).
Despite his zest for life, love of laughter, and ability to charm his way into any room, Mike, at times, struggled. He fought for many years against these struggles and eventually sought peace in another realm.
Mike is predeceased by his mother, Sandra Kay, his father, Thomas James Moreland, and his sister, Kristy Bishop.
He will be missed by all survivors including his two sons, Jensen Thomas Moreland and Michael (“Mikey”) Wesley Moreland, and his two nephews, Zach Bishop and Dylan Nash. Mike also leaves behind several friends and loved ones, scattered from coast to coast, who will always keep his memory alive.
At this time, no formal services are planned but Mike’s family and friends will honor him privately in the coming months.
